Who are we?

The Christian Union is a non-denominational student Christian group at La Trobe University, Bundoora Campus. We meet together regularly to support and encourage each other and to learn about God through the Bible. We want to tell other people about God and the fantastic message of Jesus and do so through Bible studies, weekly public meetings, camps and other social events. "For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake." 2 Corinthians 4:5. Everyone is welcome to come along!

La Trobe Christian Union is affiliated officially with the La Trobe Student Association.

La Trobe CU also partners with the Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students (AFES). You can learn more about the AFES here.

What do we do?

The CU is a community that seeks to explore who Jesus is. Each Monday night during  semester we meet for dinner, to hear a Bible talk and attend small workshops to explore faith. We also have weekly groups, camps and social activities.

For more information about the events and activities we are currently running, please see our events page.

What do we believe?

In Christian Union we aim to uphold the fundamental truths of the Christian faith as contained in the Bible, and so we believe:

  • The divine inspiration and infallibility of Holy Scripture as originally given and its supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
  • The unity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit in the Godhead.
  • The universal sinfulness and guilt of humanity since the fall, rendering men and women subject to God's wrath and condemnation.
  • The conception of Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit and his birth by the virgin Mary.
  • Redemption from the guilt, penalty and power of sin only through the sacrificial death, as our representative and substitute, of Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God.
  • The bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
  • The necessity of the work of the Holy Spirit to make the death of Christ effective in the individual sinner, granting him or her repentance towards God, and faith in Jesus Christ.
  • The indwelling and work of the Holy Spirit in the believer.
  • The expectation of the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
